Natural Healing is the utilization of
those things that exist in nature; that aren’t altered by chemicals, synthetic
substances or man. It is the most
powerful energy vibration at our disposal.
There are many areas of health
that work on frequency or energy.
Today there are many therapies utilized by orthodox doctors in order to
offer their patients more effective, less expensive, and safer treatments
without the side effects that are so often experienced with conventional drug
treatment. The terms Alternative,
Holistic, and Complementary are all referring to Natural Healing. Alternative medicine is really about choices,
individualized health care, prevention and of course treatments that deal more
directly with the cause of a problem verses symptoms. As more people become unsatisfied and
disillusioned with orthodox health care, Naturopathic Physicians are being
sought out as a way of combining the best of both worlds. The medical establishment is more willing to
accept Clinical Naturopaths more than any other alternative practitioners
because of their vast knowledge and training in various fields. The Naturopath will view the person as a
whole and work on correcting disturbances in the body that are directly related
to the cause of the manifestations that we view as symptoms. Different paths are utilized depending on the
individual and the willingness of acceptance to different treatments.
- Colon Hydrotherapy is used to detox poisons from
the colon that are creating disturbances
or imbalances in “all” areas of the body.
If the colon is overloaded with toxins than it will channel these
poisons into the liver, kidneys, skin, lungs or lymphatics. Thereafter, it will manifest in the weakest
link in the body genetically.
- Herbal Medicines are frequently used as tonics
and nutritive agents to strengthen weak systems.
- Hydrotherapy is used for circulation and
- Dietary supplements and glandular extracts may
also be used to overcome nutritional deficiencies.
- Homeopathy is used to correct energy imbalances,
a disturbance of the body’s “vital force.”
- Acupuncture uses hair thin needles and/or
electrodes to direct and re-channel body energy that stimulates certain nerve
cells to release chemicals found in the spine, muscles and brain. These chemicals help relieve pain by
releasing endorphins, the body’s pain-relieving substances. They also stimulate the release of other
chemicals and hormones that normalize body processes.
- Massage therapy effectively treats chronic
inflammatory conditions by increasing limbic circulation, promotes mucous and
fluid drainage from the lungs, calms the nerves, promotes muscle relaxation and
helps break up scar tissue and adhesions which develop as a result of injury.
- Chiropractors focus on misalignments in the
spine, known as subluxations, that cause nerve interference, and result in both
pain and reduced immune response. A
subluxation can have a direct effect on organ function.
- Reflexology or zone therapy clears the pathways
of energy flow throughout the body, to return body balance, and increaseimmune
response. It also stimulates the
lympathic system to eliminate wastes adequately, and the blood to circulate
- Biofeedback uses electronic devices to give
auditory, verbal, and visual information back to the body about how it is
working. It is used to treat tension
headaches, migraines, anxiety, partial paralysis, muscle pain, irritable bowel
syndrome, facial tics, and cerebral palsy.
- Guided Imagery is a communication technique for
accessing the network between mind and body as a source of power in the healing
process. It is used to overcome chronic
pain, persistent infections, shrink tumor growths, minimize discomfort from all
kinds of acute injuries, and to encourage better performance with athletes.
- Hypnotherapy is an artificially induced mental
state that heightens receptivity to suggestion to access the deepest levels of
the mind in order to effect positive changes in a person’s behavior. It has therapeutic applications for both
psychological and physical disorders.
- Enzyme Therapy falls into 3 categories:
metabolic, digestive, and plant enzymes. It is the life force in the foods we
consume. No vitamin, mineral, or hormone
can do its job without enzymes. They act
as catalyst for every activity, and are involved in every bio-chemical
process. Because of the sensitivity of
the enzymes they are easily destroyed at temperatures above 120 degrees. That means that when we eat foods that are
cooked they are void of enzymes, and therefore difficulty in digestion often
- Aromatherapy uses plant oils (or distilled
condensations) to produce physical and emotional effects in the body. These essential oils work on different levels
to accelerate healing, especially restoring energy and body balance through the
nervous system. The Essential oils are
75 to 100 times more concentrated than dried herbs and flowers, which accounts
for the deep subconscious effects on emotions, triggering memory, and altering
attitudes. They are also used
medicinally to correct various physical malfunctions. There are many other areas
of Natural Healing; we have touched upon only a few. If you are tired of being sick and are
willing to take responsibility for your health, confront your doctor about what
you can do to enhance the healing process as a compliment to the treatments
under his recommendation, or seek out a professional in any one of the areas of
